Philippe Quenum is one half of tech-house production outfit Access 58 with Paulo Nascimento, a member of Jaam and cofounder of Mutant Soul Records.

Born in France, DJing since the early 80's throughout Europe and holding residencies in Swiss clubs and national radio station Couleur 3 as well as working for the Montreux Jazz Festival, Quenum moved to the U.K. in the early 90's and produced from there, returning to Switzerland a decade later.

As a DJ, Quenum spins minimal techno-house to tribal heights with a more or less experimental edge : either slamming and rumbling, or deep and minimal depending on the event. His mixing technique is rather flawless and his live sets go even deeper into abstract dancefloor techno. In 2003, Quenum produced the underground techno hit « Orange Mistake / Funky Dandy » with Luciano.

Quenum has performed live worldwide since 1996 as Access 58 with Paulo Nascimento, whose colleagues and remixers include Trevor Rockliffe, Colin Dale, Mark Broom, Marco Lenzi, Mark Williams, Umek, The Advent, Cari Lekebusch, Steve Stoll, Pacou, Jamie Anderson and Valentino Kanziani. Since 2001, Access 58 have also teamed up with classical/jazz trained Portuguese keyboardist Nuno Filipe for the Jaam project, whose releases on Mutant Soul Records also feature remixes by Rollercone, Alex Attias and Jimpster. Mutant Soul is an outlet for more downtempo, house, broken beat and jazzy releases, showing Quenum's broad range of musical interests, including afro-caribbean music, soul, funk, hip hop, house and techno.
